Donald Trump is leaving “room” for negotiations on the war in Iran, the American ambassador to the UN said on Sunday, after two nights without American strikes against the country.

Asked about NBC News to know if the American president had renounced a new escalation in Iran, Mike Waltz replied: “I would not go that far. The president is keeping all options on the table. »
“What the president is doing at the moment (…) is leaving room for negotiations. Negotiations are continuing,” he added.
No US bombing was reported in Iran as of dawn Sunday, marking the second consecutive night of pause in hostilities.
After almost five months of war, several American media have reported in recent days concerns within the American government about a possible exhaustion of already reduced stocks of munitions.
“A large part of the army’s stocks have been used” over the “last four or five years”, due to deliveries to Ukraine and American operations against the Houthis in Yemen during the presidency of Joe Biden, said Mike Waltz.
But, he then assured, the American army has “everything it needs to carry out this campaign with all the required efficiency”.
“In fact, more resources are going to be deployed in the region,” he also said, saying that those who had disclosed information about a possible lack of ammunition “deserve to be in prison”.
