FedEx employees in Memphis, Tennessee, got quite a scare last week when a customer opened a package containing his new pet: a particularly energetic iguana who wasted no time in causing a surprise.
In a video that went viral on Instagram, Roderick Duncan films the moment he goes to a FedEx center to pick up what would become his new companion, an iguana named Titan.
We see an employee bring behind the counter the box containing the reptile, which had been transported in a refrigerated container to keep it calm during the trip. One of the employees then encourages Mr. Duncan to open the package on the spot.
It takes him a few minutes to remove the packaging material, under the watchful gaze of two employees, before the iguana suddenly appears.
“It was shipped express, and I expected it to be a little stiff at first, like most reptiles after shipping… Well no. Titan has arrived ready to fight,” Mr. Duncan wrote in his post.
Barely out of its bag, the iguana jumped behind the counter, causing a real wave of panic. We hear one of the employees let out a cry of surprise, while another falls to the ground trying to get away from the animal.
Titan finally took refuge in a room behind the counter, before his owner managed to retrieve him and put him back in his bag.
The incident fortunately ended without any injuries and, once the surprise wore off, the employees burst out laughing.
“Welcome to the family, Titan!” », added Mr. Duncan at the end of his publication.
Since then, the latter has regularly shared photos and videos of his new pet. In particular, he can be seen wearing a harness and accompanying his owner in his daily activities, whether at the gym or during car trips.
