The fast food chain Taco Bell now offers certain lettuce-free products for just $1 to win back its customers, in the face of a drop in attendance caused by a parasitic epidemic in the United States.

Classic enchiritos and nacho fries are included in this promotion, the company announced Wednesday via an Instagram post.
Previously, enchiritos were sold for US$4.29 and nacho fries for US$2.89. The $1 fries offer is only for orders placed via the mobile app.
The lettuce served in the brand’s restaurants had been identified as a potential source of cyclosporosis contamination.
As of July 15, attendance had fallen 16.9% compared to the annual daily average, according to a CNN analysis.
After the official announcement by the federal authorities on July 17, the decline reached nearly 31%, despite the withdrawal of lettuce from restaurants.
