More than 430 drones launched towards Moscow, before the start of the NATO summit
Ukraine launched more than 430 drones towards Moscow overnight, the mayor of the Russian capital Sergei Sobyanin announced on Tuesday July 7, the day a NATO summit is due to begin in Ankara with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as guest.
“From the evening until 6 a.m., more than 430 drones flew in the direction of the Moscow region. Most were neutralized by air defense forces at distant ranges. 36 enemy drones were destroyed on approach to Moscow,” Sergei Sobyanin wrote on social media.
One dead in Ukrainian attack in Belgorod region
One person was killed in the Russian region of Belgorod during “repeated strikes” by Ukrainian missiles, announced the acting regional governor, Alexander Shuvayev.
“Repeated missile strikes were carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Belgorod,” Alexander Shuvayev wrote on Telegram. “In the village of Belovskoye, Belgorod district, a civilian resident was unfortunately killed as a result of the first missile strike,” he added. The attack also caused a fire in “infrastructure”, he added. The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, for his part reported at least 14 Ukrainian drones intercepted as they were heading towards the capital during the night from Monday to Tuesday.
