Upgrading the baccalaureate, even if it means taking on a drop in the success rate: this is the strategy of Minister of Education Édouard Geffray, clarified in May 2026 during a press conference. With this in mind, the minister rolled out a list of measures: establishment of a “floor age” for taking the exam, reinforced fight against fraud, tightening of the rules for resit, and increased requirements on spelling and syntax. But on the eve of the baccalaureate results, the announced turn of the screw does not seem to have changed the correction methods.
