The results of the night
Paraguay – France (0-1) :
France barely defeated a rough and eye-catching Paraguay team 1-0 on Saturday July 4 in the round of 16 of the World Cup and will face Morocco in the next round.
In a choppy meeting, marked by a very tense atmosphere and the leniency of Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev, Kylian Mbappé unlocked the Blues’ counter by converting a penalty caused by Désiré Doué, after recourse to VAR (video assistance to refereeing) in the 70th minute.
Canada – Morocco (0-3):
Morocco won the first ticket for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup by dominating 3-0 on Saturday July 4 in Houston (Texas) over Canada, the first co-organizing country to be eliminated.
The Moroccans opened the scoring with Azzedine Ounahi (50th minute), after a free kick played by their captain Achraf Hakimi. Ounahi doubled the lead in the second period at the conclusion of a counter-attack (82nd), before Soufiane Rahimi planted a final banderilla (90th + 8).
Semi-finalist of the last edition in Qatar in 2022 where it was eliminated by France, Morocco will therefore meet the Blues on Thursday July 9 in Boston.
Upcoming matches
