The cast of the new version of Baantjer (1995–2006) is increasingly taking shape. After it was previously announced that Thomas Acda (All Stars (1997)) takes on the iconic role of detective De Cock, it has now also been confirmed that Jonas Smulders will appear as his loyal colleague Dick Vledder. Nasrdin Dchar and Monic Hendrickx are also part of the main cast. Filming of the series has now officially started.
Smulders follows in the footsteps of Victor Reinier
With his role as Dick Vledder, Jonas Smulders takes over a character that was played for years by Victor Reinier. He played De Cock’s right-hand man between 1995 and 2006 and became one of the most famous faces of the original series. In recent years, Smulders has become one of the most versatile actors in the Netherlands. He was seen in, among other things Nobody in town (2018), Paradise Drifters (2020) in Ferry 2 (2024). Earlier this year he also appeared on the silver screen Paaz (2026).
Well-known names strengthen the cast
In addition to Acda and Smulders, the police team consists of even more familiar faces. Stephanie van Eer (Costa!! (2022)) plays detective Prins, while Nasrdin Dchar (Mocro Mafia (2018–2024)) takes on the role of detective Keizer. Monic Hendrickx (Ferry (2021)) voices Commissioner Buitendam. Furthermore, Carolien Spoor (Snow week (2016)) as watch commander Peeters and René van ‘t Hof (Matterhorn (2013)) as the beloved café owner Lowietje. In addition, each episode will feature guest roles from famous Dutch people, who each play the victim of a new murder case.

‘Baantjer’ is a police series based on the books by Appie Baantjer. In the series, detective Jurrian ‘Jurre’ de Cock (Piet Römer), his partner Vledder (Victor Reinier) and their colleagues Keizer (Martin Schwab), Prins (Marian Mudder) and Den Koninghe (Hans Karsenbarg) investigate crimes in the heart of Amsterdam and try to solve them.
Familiar concept in a new guise
Just like in the original series, the story takes place in the heart of Amsterdam, where detective De Cock and his team solve various murder cases. In the original series, De Cock was played by Piet Römer for many years.
