16 years after The Social Network (2010), a hopefully razor-sharp successor will be released next fall: The Social Reckoning (2026). The teaser has just been released and gives us a first impression of Jeremy Strong in the role of Facebook magnate Mark Zuckerberg.
Evil role
In the teaser, whistleblower Frances Haugen (Oscar winner Mikey Madison) tells a renowned investigative journalist (The Bear star Jeremy Allen White) that she has secret information about the functioning of Facebook. The context is no longer the very beginning of the social platform (as in The Social Network), but the much-discussed media storm surrounding the Capitol riots (2021). How bad was the role Facebook played in these events?
Imitator
From the first reactions to the teaser, we see that Strong’s performance as Zuckerberg stands out for many viewers. “Strong really imitates Zuckerberg’s voice and his timbre perfectly,” writes one of them, for example. An important difference from The Social Reckoning Compared to its predecessor, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is now at the helm – David Fincher is no longer directly involved.
