De Nederlandse drama film Champagne (2026) will soon be released on Prime Video. The film, written by Leo Alkemade, can be seen on the streaming service from next month.
Trip through the Champagne region
In Champagne the relationship between father and son is central. When Maarten discovers that his father Hans is terminally ill, he decides to travel with him to the Champagne region in France. Their attempt to grow closer together regularly results in awkward and comical situations.
Tribute to father
Alkemade wrote the screenplay as a tribute to his father. They wanted to make one last trip together, but due to his father’s illness this never happened. Together with Huub Stapel, Alkemade plays the leading role in the film directed by Tim Kamps.

Published on March 19, 2026 Champagne in Dutch cinemas. The film later received a Golden Film award for reaching over 100,000 moviegoers. Released on June 14 Champagne on Prime Video.
