End of – False – suspense. Inter Milan has found its new coach: six days later Simone Inzaghi’s surreprise The European vice-champion 2025, corrected in the Champions League final by the PSGchose the former Romanian international Cristian Chivu on Monday.
“Inter Milan welcomes Cristian Chivu, new coach of his first team who signed a two -year contract until June 30, 2027,” said the Lombard club football in a press release.
Chivu, 44, knows the Inter well for having worn the Nerazzurro jersey from 2007 to 2014 with the high point, the coronation in Champions League In 2010 and a triplet Serie A/Cup of Italy/C1.
The former defender then made his debut as a coach in the Milanese club, first with the teams of young people from 2018 to 2021, then at the head of the Primavera, the reserve, from 2021 to 2024.
He had left Inter at the end of last season, before being recruited in February 2025 by the promoted Parma, then in bad shape.
For his first experience as a Serie A coach, Chivu ensured the maintenance of Parma (16th) with a record of three victories, notably against Juventus and Atalanta, seven draws and three defeats.
It was therefore with an experience limited to 13 games that he will succeed Inzaghi who gave in to the advances of the Saudi club Al-Hilal and his mirobal contract of 50 million euros in two seasons.
Under the leadership of Inzaghi, for four seasons (2021-25), the Inter won a Scudetto (2024), two editions of the Italian Cup (2022, 2023) and disputed two of the last three finals of the Champions League.
Chivu was not the first choice of Inter. The Lombard club, ahead of a point by Naples for the title 2025 of Italian champion, wanted to recruit the Spaniard Cesc Fabregas, but Côme, which he led to 10th place, did not want to let him go.
