A little over a year ago, Starz announced the film adaptation of a Bestseller from May Cobb, The Hunting Wives (2025). The series has already been recorded and has lead roles for Malin Åkerman and Brittany Snow and is soon expected on Netflix.
Back and forth with rights
Starz recently undergone an important restructuring in which it has separated from Lionsgate. Since May 2024, Starz has been an independent entity with a new focus on ‘Owner Economics’, which means that they mainly want to invest in series that they own themselves. This has meant that Starz is no longer so interested in limited series such as The Hunting Wives. Lionsgate bought back the rights to the series from Starz to create opportunities for a longer continuation of the series on Netflix.
