Training of the main teachers, dedicated half-days, or even years of post-baccalaureate caesura … two days after The publication of the first answers on Parcoursup For high school students and reorientation students, The Minister of Education, Élisabeth Borneannounced, this Wednesday, a plan to improve the orientation of students in college, high school and after the bac.
“I wanted to take this subject head-on because it arouses a lot of stress among parents and students, and because it is one of the central elements of reproduction of inequalities,” explains Élisabeth Borne, in an interview with Le Figaro posted online Wednesday.
“Encourage the year of post-baccalaureate”
Among the planned measures, the Minister indicates that orientation training will be provided for the main teachers in secondary school. “We are going to start with the 30,000 main third teachers who will benefit from half a day of training next fall,” she says.
The students, from 5th to final year, will have “four half-days per year dedicated to orientation, with a skill program to acquire”.
For post-bac, Élisabeth Borne says he wants to “make the conditions of access to higher education more flexible”. The government notably wishes to “encourage the year of post-baccalaureate caesura, which is widespread with our neighbors, and which can be an opportunity to engage in a civic service, to carry out an associative commitment, to travel …”. An option chosen by “barely 9,000 high school students in France,” she adds.
She also wants to “develop years of multidisciplinary propédeutics at the university for graduates who hesitate”, a device offered today by 22 universities. “We want to gain momentum to arrive at 45 in 2027,” said the minister.
A BTS in 3 years
For professional baccalaureate holders, Élisabeth Borne says he wants to “experiment the possibility” also to “do her BTS in 3 years, with there again a year of propédeutics to strengthen their skills upstream of the continuation of studies”, a course which she wishes to develop in “at least one high school by academy” at the start of the 2026 school year. Always for professional high school students, preparatory classes for engineering schools in three years will be developed.
In a report published on Tuesday, the defender of rights criticized “a system of orientation in secondary education that is not very readable, fragmented and unequal”, and called for “a collective awareness to make orientation a real lever of emancipation”.
At the beginning of April, Prime Minister François Bayrou had reaffirmed to be “very questionable on Parcoursup”and estimated that “early orientation” is “most of the time a social orientation”.
