Emmanuel Macron’s wax statue, which was stolen from the Grévin museum on Monday by Greenpeace activistswas deposited by members of the NGO this Tuesday evening in front of the headquarters of EDF, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, in order to denounce economic ties, especially on energy, between France with Russia.
“We came to bring back the statue of Emmanuel Macron because as we had promised it from the start, it is a loan,” Jean-François Julliard, general manager of Greenpeace France, told AFP near EDF in the center of Paris. “We warned both the management of the Grévin museum and the police. It’s up to them to come and get it back, “he said. In front of the press present on the spot, a Greenpeace activist poses next to the statue with a sign “Putin-Macron, radioactive allies”.

Two women and a man entered the Parisian museum on Monday morning, located in the 9th arrondissement (center). After having changed, pretending to be craftsmen or employees of the establishment, they managed to steal the statue, worth 40,000 euros, hiding it under a cover and leaving by an emergency exit.
“They had clearly made very specific scouting”
According to a spokesperson for the museum, they diverted the attention of the vigil by asking a question about the elevator access to the disabled while others put on a maintenance agent blouse.
“They had clearly made very specific scouting,” she told AFP, adding that activists had quickly called the museum to guarantee them that the statue would be returned “unharmed”.
The statue of the President of the French Republic was then laid in the afternoon before the Russian Embassy, located in the 16th arrondissement (west) of the capital, noted a journalist on the scene.
The action in front of the embassy lasted only a few minutes: a Russian flag was deployed behind the statue of Emmanuel Macron and an activist from the NGO brandished a fluorescent yellow sign carrying the inscription “Business is business”. Members of Greenpeace have launched off false banknotes. According to our information, two people were arrested on Monday as part of this case.
