2025 patent: the final tests
The written tests of the 2025 patent will take place this year Thursday 26 and Friday 27 June 2025. Classic dates at the end of June, the official end of the year and school holidays being set for Saturday July 5, 2024.
These dates apply to all candidates from Metropolitan France, Reunion and Mayotte but also this year of Guadeloupe de Martinique and Guyana.
Each year around 850,000 candidates are registered throughout France. They are divided into two series (780,000 candidates in the general series and 70,000 candidates in the pro series).
2025 patent: the days and hours of the tests
Thursday June 26:
- French part. Grammar and linguistic skills – Understanding and interpretation and dictation skills. From 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the metropolis/meeting/Mayotte. (From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for Guadeloupe and Martinique and from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. for Guyana).
- French part 2 (Writing) from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for the metropolitan/meeting/Mayotte (2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. for Guadeloupe and Martinique and from 3.45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. for Guyana.
- Mathematics : From 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. for the metropolis/meeting/Mayotte (8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for Guadeloupe and Martinique and from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for Guyana).
Friday June 27:
- History and geography moral and civic teaching: of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for metropolitan/meeting/Mayotte (9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. for Guadeloupe and Martinique and 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for Guyana).
- Sciences : Physics – Chemistry and/or SVT and/or technology (2 disciplines out of 3) from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for metropolitan/meeting/Mayotte (from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. for Guadeloupe and Martinique and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for Guyana).
- Foreign Language Language (test reserved for individual candidates) from 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. for the metropolis/meeting/Mayotte (1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for Guadeloupe and Martinique and 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for Guyana).
Replacement session in September
The written tests of the national diploma of the patent common to all candidates will take place on June 26 and 27 for the normal session, but there is also a replacement session which will take place Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 September 2025 For candidates with an important problem in June/July.
The progress of the patent tests
New patent. 6th year following the patent reform that came into force in 2017: obtaining the National Brevet Diploma (DNB) is based on continuous control and three compulsory tests spent at the end of the third class:
- An oral test during which the student presents a project worked within the framework of an interdisciplinary practical education (PPE) or one of the educational paths, allowing in particular to assess the quality of oral expression;
- A written test on French, history-geography and moral and civic education;
- A written test on mathematics, life and earth sciences, physics-chemistry and technology.

The main news of the patent since 2017
- The evaluation of the eight components of the common base of skills, knowledge and culture is part of the calculation of points for obtaining the DNB.

Patent results: dates of patent results 2025
The results of the patent are broadcast according to the calendar decided by each academy/They should be disseminated Between Monday 7 and Thursday July 10, 2025the date and time varying according to the academies.
Depending on the total of the points obtained, students can be assigned mentions: “fairly well”, “good” or “very good”. The “good” and “very good” mentions allow, under certain conditions, to benefit from merit scholarships.
Regarding the success rate of the 2024 session for the general series, it was 86.8 %, down 3.5 points compared to June 2023, and 75.2 % (-9 points) in professional series. In detail, out of the 857,669 candidates, 14 % were failed, 26 % of the candidates obtained the mention very well, 23 % the mention well, 20 % fairly well and 16 % were received without mention.
All series combined, girls always succeed better than boys. 90 % of girls get their diploma while boys are 84 % in this case, a difference of 6 points in favor of girls.

To be admitted, you must have at least 10/20 for all the encrypted results and master the common base of knowledge and skills at landing 3.
Admitted students will be able to obtain their patent with mentions (novelty since 2006):
- Mention “Quite well” if the average is between 12/20 and 14/20
- “Good” mention if the average is between 14/20 and 16/20
- Mention “very good” if the average is greater than 16/20
