Three men, foreign nationals, were arrested on Monday as part of the investigation on green paint jets on five Jewish placeson the night of Friday to Saturday in Paris, a source close to the investigation at AFP said.
During the night from Friday to Saturday in Paris, The Shoah Memorial, three synagogues and a restaurant have been sprayed with green paintarousing the “indignation” and the condemnation of political figures of all stripes, and the anger of Israel.
An investigation was opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office for “degradations committed due to religion” following the discovery of jets of green painting on these five places. The place of the arrests has not been specified.
No message or claim
At the foot of the facade of the restaurant of the Jewish community “Chez Marianne”, a pot of painting started was found. Painting jets were also noted on the synagogue of Tournelles, on that of Agoudas Hakehilos, as well as on the Shoah Memorial, all in the 4th arrondissement of the capital. No message or claim has been discovered at this stage. The facts were noted by the police during their patrols around 05:15 on Saturday morning.
Memorial video surveillance images have shown a person dressed in black tagging around 4:30 am. A man dressed in dark was also filmed by a surveillance camera of the Tournelles synagogue, shortly before 4 hours. The images of two men (a spraying of the paint and the second filming it) were captured by a surveillance camera of the second synagogue of the 4th arrondissement.
Another synagogue, this time in the 20th arrondissement, “was also the subject of degradations by jets of green color paint”.
Solicited by AFP, the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that it has charged the territorial security of an investigation for “degradations committed because of religion” following the discovery of green painting jets on these five places.
