After several months without new work unveiled, A stencil attributed to the Street-Artist Banksy Was discovered on Friday on the facade of a building in Marseille in a discreet street, very close to one of the beaches of the second city in France on the Mediterranean coast.
The work of art represents a dark lighthouse which emits a white light, covered with a sentence in English: “I want to be what you saw in me” (“I want to be what you saw in me”). It is the artist himself, whose identity always remains mysterious, who had revealed a photo of his drawing, without making a comment, on his Instagram profile.
Except that two days after its appearance, the work was degraded in the night from Saturday to Sunday … before being restarted. Violet in color, the smear was made up of two roughly painted testicles on each side of the work.
The degradation was quickly cleaned Sunday in the morning. “I tried to clean tags that were made last night, because in fact, it takes a certain waiting time for the anti-graffiti protection varnish to be really operational,” said Agnès Perrone, painter in heritage decor “to give a helping hand”.
“They waited until I went to bed, even very late, to add a beautiful pair of balls around the lighthouse,” she grew while watching the surroundings to avoid her degradation.
“I find it very stupid. But at the same time, I am used to it, I am Marseille: it is a national sport to fight the tags, here, ”she added.
