Iranian diplomacy chief Abbas Araghchi judged on Saturday “unacceptable” The atomic weaponwhen his country is engaged in delicate nuclear talks with the United States.
The two countries are erased on the question of Uranium enrichment : the United States asks that Iran completely renounces it, while Tehran categorically refuses, arguing with its right to have civil nuclear capacities.

“If the problem is that of nuclear weapons, yes, we also consider that this type of weapon is unacceptable,” said Abbas Araghchi during a television speech. “We agree with them on this issue,” he added in reference to the American position.
The Western countries, the United States in mind, and Israel, a sworn enemy of Iran and considered by experts as the only nuclear power in the Middle East, suspect Tehran of wanting to acquire nuclear weapons.
Iran defends himself from having such military ambitions but defends a right to civilian nuclear, especially for energy. However, the country is the only state not endowed with nuclear weapons to enrich uranium at a high level (60 %), according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA).
“They cannot have nuclear weapons”
“They cannot have nuclear weapons,” US President Donald Trump said on Friday, saying Iran and the United States were “closely close to an agreement.”
Abbas Araghchi had however tempered all American optimism in a message published Thursday on X, in which he claims to be “not sure” of the “imminence” of an agreement.

Enemies for four decades, Tehran and Washington held a fifth cycle of talks on May 23 in Rome under the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman. Iranian negotiator Abbas Araghchi and his American interlocutor Steve Witkoff Leave themselves without notable advances but say they are ready for new discussions. No date has yet been set.
In the event of agreement with Washington, Iran said on Wednesday that it could authorize a visit to American inspectors on its soil under the aegis of the IAEA, the UN nuclear agency.
“American inspectors” in Iran?
“If questions are raised, that an agreement is concluded and that Iran’s requests are taken into account, then we will reconsider the possibility of accepting American inspectors” of the IAEA, “said Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (OIEA).
