From day one the reactions to Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025) were downright destructive. The film would not have the quality of the earlier Fear Street-trilogy. Nevertheless, the few will surprise that the new horror has now conquered first place in the Netflix Top 10. The attraction appears to be greater than the quality.
Quality not important
Fear Street: Prom Queen Despite the harsh criticisms, it does great on Netflix. Presumably the film benefits from the popularity of Fear Street Part One: 1994 (2021), Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (2021) and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (2021). In addition, the book series of RL Stine on which the films are based remains, without prejudice to popular. For those who grew up with the books, a new film in the series is irresistible, no matter how mediocre.

Nonnas overtaken
With a meager 5.1 on IMDB and only 26% on rotten tomatoes from both critics and the general public, Prom Queen A flop on paper. Yet the viewing figures speak volumes. Within two days the film was viewed no less than 10.1 million times. With that, the horror stormed straight to the first place in the top 10 and even caught up with the production of public favorite Nonas (2025).
