This week appeared Dept. Q (2025– ) On Netflix, a new crime series that immediately attracted a lot of attention. The interest was partly thanks to the fact that the series comes from the same makers as from The Queen’s Gambit (2020)very large. Subscribers prepared for an extensive bingia session, but to the great surprise from many, the series suddenly disappeared from the platform, just a few hours after release.

Canceling Netflix series often comes as a surprise and rarely evokes enthusiasm, but that a series would disappear from the streaming service so briefly, no one saw. Viewers who are just on the first episodes of Dept. Q had begun, they express their frustration on social media en masse. One subscriber even reported that he had called the Netflix help desk for hours in an attempt to get clarity. Fortunately it turned out to be a temporary problem and the entire series was available again a few hours later. Netflix did not comment on why the series was temporarily not visible.
More than symbolic
Despite the short commotion around the temporary disappearance, is Dept. Q Immediately a hit on Netflix. The series follows the start-up of a cold case department within the Scottish police, apparently intended as a publicity stunt to mask previous blunders within the corps. Detective Carl Mørck is the only employee of the new agency and in the first instance his role seems especially symbolic. When he overgoes a breakthrough in an unresolved case for years, he surprises friend and foe.
