After the cottage in the housekeeper’s house on Île Louët, Of which the slots had been reserved in less than ten minutes in November denier, the Baie de Morlaix (Finistère) is preparing to open a similar new rental, this time on black island. The same one who has according to a tenacious legend (and not completely verified) inspired Hergé for his Tintin album of the same name!

“We documented Hergé’s arrival before the production of his album, in Locquénolé … Just opposite the Black Island,” says Jean-Paul Vermot, president of Morlaix community and mayor of the city of Morlaix. The physiognomy of the place in comics also shows great similarities with the real aesthetics of the island… ”.
This is enough to attract the eye on this island accessible at low tide which houses, like the other, a small lighthouse dating from 1845. The latter formerly experienced a human presence, with successive guards until 1938. Since then, the building has been left in disrepair. But for more than three years, it has been a question of rehabilitating it to make it a rental, through the tourist office.
“A site in the marine environment is never easy”
“It was particularly delicate,” admits Jean-Paul Vermot. A site in the marine environment is never simple: it was necessary to carry out sanitation work (there was no running water), transporting equipment by helicopter, stopping the sites due to the nesting periods of species of protected sea birds, etc. But the site (1.2 million euros financed at around 75 % by Europe in Feder funds, the Experience project, the Region, the Department of Finistère and the State) should end for good late 2025. ”.
And the rentals (for six people maximum) open in 2026, “if everything is going well”. “This unusual night, in Tintin’s colors, will offer an exceptional experience and a superb view,” promises the councilor. With the sea and the barnenez cairn on one side and the arrea mountains on the earth side. A thousand million thousand sabords, as the other would have said!
