“A act of resistance, a mistake, a tragedy that the Netherlands signed forever.” With those words the brand new film is Bezuidenhout (2025) Announced by distributor McOfilm. The new black and white cinema film from homegrown about a resistance group in The Hague can finally be seen from today.
Traitor in their midst
The drama takes us to The Hague in 1944. They are the last months of the Second World War and Johan Zuiderwijk lives with his family and friends in the Bezuidenhout district. The bombing of Rotterdam shows the seriousness of the situation, and Johan decides to set up a resistance group. During one of their dangerous actions, the group discovers that the Germans in the Hague forest have hidden rocket installations. But then Johan discovers that there is a traitor in their circle …
Dirk Gunther Mohr
The war film is directed by Wouter Hermans, who makes his directing debut of a feature film. The main roles are for boundless betrayal actor Dirk Gunther Mohr, Casanova’s actress Inge Sonderen, Susan Joyce, Chris van Veenen, Bart Kalisvaart and Frederique Arnold.
