Earlier this month, Netflix added a new Korean film to the library. It’s about The Match (2025)an exciting story about the iconic duel between Cho Hun-Hyun and his Protégé Lee Chang-Ho who compete against each other for the world title. The film is currently in fifth place in the Netflix Top 10.

The Match Was a great success nationally and now gets the chance on Netflix to realize the same worldwide. This is now starting to succeed. The film is based on a true story and follows the best Go player in South Korea. To the great surprise, he loses from his own student who grows into the youngest go world champion ever. Cho Hun-Hyun will not rest until he has the title back.

The leading role The Match is played by Lee Byung-Hun, known from Squid Game (2021– ). Byung-Hun was given the opportunity to meet the real go champion during the recordings and described this as a great experience: “There is so much to learn from him”. The actor finds the film a must for anyone who enjoyed The Queen’s Gambit (2020).
