The Cannes Film Festival is now in full swing. One of the films that are most expected this year, Die, My Lovewill premiere tomorrow. Today the first images of the film with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson were unveiled.
Contradictions
Die, My Love Is directed by the Scottish filmmaker Lynn Ramsey. Among other things, she is known from You Were Never Really Here (2017). The film is based on the novel of the same name Die, My Lovewritten by the Argentinian writer Ariana Harwicz. The story revolves around a woman in the countryside struggling with inner demons. She wants nothing more than freedom, but feels trapped. While she dreams of an average family life, she prefers to set the entire house on fire. Her behavior is increasingly accepted, but she still feels more stunned and oppressed every day.
France versus Canada
Although the film is set in France, the recordings took place from August to October in Calgary, Canada. In addition to Lawrence and Pattinson, Lakeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek can also be seen in the film. The latter two will be shown together in a film for the third time, after Heart Beat (1980) in Affliction (1997).
Die, My Love Does not yet have a distributor, but will undoubtedly find one during the Film Festival.
