We recently shared the trailer with you Together (2025)a disturbing horror film in which the film set Alison Brie and Dave Franco is unusually close together. The cinema release is scheduled for this fall, but it may get a tail before or after that time. The makers have been charged because of copyright.
Substantial similarities
In the independent film Better Half (2023) Two lovers find out that they are physically attached to each other, a starting point that we clearly see in the trailer of Together. “We are all our lives to find our dream half,” we hear a disoriented Dave Franco under those images, “and once you’ve found them, don’t let them go anymore”.
This week the makers of the relatively unknown have Better Half a copyright claim submitted against the makers of Together. They state that Brie and Franco not only stolen the starting point, but also a number of other plot elements and thematic elements. This includes a reference to the philosophical ‘symposium’ of the Greek Plato.
Rejected pitch
According to the makers of Better Half Brie and Franco heard a scriptpitch in 2020, but chose not to do anything with it. The day before Together The Sundance Film Festival was shown, two producers of the film got out of it. They went to see to see how large the similarities would be, and were amazed.
Convinced defense
The distinguished media company WME, which together with Brie, Franco and Together-Director Michael Shanks is mentioned as the accused party, says the copyright claim “Frivool” and “Without Value”. The makers of Together the claim will therefore be convinced.
In the US, the release of the new horror film is planned for the beginning of August. In the Netherlands Together On the calendar before October 9.
