The war of communication continues in Gaza. The armed branch of the Palestinian Islamist and terrorist movement Hamas On Saturday broadcast a video of two Israeli hostages alive in Gaza, in which one of them calls to end the war in the Palestinian territory.
The Israeli media identified the two men appearing in the video, of just over three minutes, as being Elkana Bohbot and Yossef-Haïm Ohana, removed in Israel during the attack perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023. AFP was unable to determine the date of the recording.
Hamas has already published similar videos of hostages that it holds, within the framework of what Israel calls “deplorable psychological war”. The hostage and missing families forum asked Israeli media not to publish the video or photos of the clip as long as the family has not approved them.
The two men are filmed in a small confined space, one seated in a suit, the shaved skull and the tattooed arm, speaking by waving the hands, and the other, lying under a blanket, visibly weakened and keeping silence.
Speaking under stress like all the hostages appearing in the videos of the Ezzedine al-Qassam brigades, the man with a shaved skull explains that his companion is in a very difficult physical and mental state, and calls on Israeli leaders to end the war in Gaza.
Aged 24 and 36 respectively, Yossef-Haïm Ohana and Elkana Bohbot had been kidnapped at the Nova music festival in the south of Israel during the attack on October 7, which sparked the war in the Gaza Strip. Both had already appeared in videos broadcast by Hamas since their abduction.
During the attack on October 7, 251 people had been removed. Fifty-eight hostages are still retained in Gaza, including 34 dead according to the Israeli army. Hamas also retains the body of an Israeli soldier killed in a previous war in Gaza in 2014.
It is in this context that thousands of people gathered on Friday in Jerusalem in favor of peace, while the war in Gaza enters its 20th month, with an alarming humanitarian situation according to the UN and dozens of Israeli hostages still captive.
“We have to choose an alternative”
Israel, who resumed his offensive in Gaza on March 18 after a two -month truce, announced on Monday a plan of “conquest” of the Palestinian territory which provides for a massive displacement of its population, arousing numerous convictions around the world. “Gaza will be completely destroyed,” the Israeli Far -Right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Tuesday.
“We cannot leave the extremists of the two camps, who feed on revenge, fear and hatred, decide on our future,” said Maoz Inon, a 50 -year -old Israeli entrepreneur and militant for peace, co -organizer of this popular peace for peace held on Friday.
“Even if they control our present, we have to choose an alternative and shape a different future,” he added. The event was organized by a coalition of around 60 local organizations working for a political resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
On this occasion, the former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the former head of Palestinian diplomacy Nasser Al-Kidwa presented their peace plan, unveiled for the first time last year.
