We do not change a team a win. Or almost. If we find the same high -flying cast of season 1 of “Black Heart”, it is now Frédéric Jardin who is in charge of the series on French special forces (FSF), 6 50 -minute episodes that arrive this Friday at Prime Video. Known for having produced “braquo” and “gears”, he succeeds Ziad Doueiri.
But we do not hide our little disappointment in view of these new episodes. Because we had loved this first completely crazy immersion so much in Mosul, Iraq, within the elite of the French army as deemed as unknown. The fact remains that this season 2 takes us from the first episode and that, despite certain lengths, we swallow them one after the other.
At the heart of the plot, Sab, the “snipeuse” brilliantly interpreted by Nina Meurissewhich had been left at the end of season 1 hostage from Daesh. His comrades of the FSF group 45, interpreted in particular by Nicolas Duvauchelle, Marie Dompnier, Tewfik Jallab, Jérémy Nadeau, Victor Pontecorvo and Thierry Godard, are determined to release her quickly.
War scenes that are more true than true
But that is without counting on the arrival in Mosul of an agent of the DGSE who intends to get things back in hand. He clearly displays his desire to negotiate directly with the Islamist Zaïd, who holds the French soldier, and is ready to do anything to recover his daughter and his grandson. Of course, group 45, with its knowledge of the field, will not be done.
A season 2 where everything is always going very quickly, where the war scenes are more true than true. It makes us live the behind the scenes of the negotiations between the highest officials of the State, that with the general played wonderfully by Patrick Mille. This opus is also more in the privacy of the military. There is the one whose couple sizes because of the distance, or the one who does not manage to let go of Mosul even when his family claims it. Exciting, but not always easy life in Mosul …
