During the night from Sunday to Monday around midnight, at Neuilly-Plaisance (Seine-Saint-Denis) A man was violently assaulted with a screwdriver. The victim, a 30 -year -old man, was seated in his vehicle and called when a perfect stranger opened the door on the driver’s side, where the thirties was and threw himself on him with the intention, if not to kill him, at least to cause him serious injuries. He armed his arm to plant him several times. Fortunately, the other man managed to deal with many shots. While struggling, he called for help trying to reason with his attacker. Without effect.
The latter remained mutic throughout the attack. Courageously, his target managed to seize the screwdriver. But the struggle did not stop there however. The individual seized another object in the vehicle and began to target the thirty -something head. During all this time, the two protagonists clashed in the passenger compartment of the van. The victim’s phone remained on and his interlocutor warned the police. Then, the 30 -year -old managed to open the door on the passenger side. Which ended hostilities. They both fell on the sidewalk and the attacker fled.
A witness went down to help him. When he overshadowed to get dressings, the attacker returned to his steps to do battle again. The police arrived and got their hands on the suspect. The wounded, presents her traces of blows to the face, especially to an eye and on the body. The screwdriver cut his right hand to him.
Signs of post-traumatic stress and delusional episodes
According to the first elements of the investigation, it turns out that the assault has no mobile. The 29 -year -old attacker has a very special profile. It is an old soldier incorporated in the 12th regiment of cuirassiers in the periphery of Orleans. A combat unit with which he was sent several times to areas of conflict and in particular twice in Mali in 2020. His relatives noticed that after his high -risk operational missions, he presented all the signs post-traumatic stress, that there are many soldiers engaged in violent fights during OPEX (external operations).
Before the assault on the night of May 4, he had already experienced a delusional episode. His parents, who would have tried to have him followed by Percy military hospital in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine) came up against the opposition of their son. In recent times, his condition would have worsened. He had entrusted to one of his relatives: “I am enough to suffer. I want to go to paradise ”.
His mental state did not allow him to be placed in police custody, he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
