Michiel ten Horn goes international. While his recent crime film Play (2025) can still be seen in a number of theaters, the Dutch director has already brought to Berlin for the recordings of a warm romcom, Any Other Night. For Ten Horn it will be the first time that he has recorded a feature film on foreign soil, even though the main role is for a Dutch actor again.
Golden Calf
Ten Horn is best known for Dutch film viewers List (2014)the comedy that immediately dragged in a golden calf for best film on the NFF. After the success of his second feature film, it took years for Ten Horn to come up with a cinema film again. After he had directed several episodes of the first Dutch Netflix series (Ares (2020)) and had taken care of a children’s film, appeared early this year Play.
Dialect
The crime drama with Fedja van Huêt premiered at the IFFR and then received a cinema release. In the raw crime comedy, Limburg’s dialect is spoken, and in that respect the contrast could not be greater with Ten Horn’s next project: that will be his first international feature film.
Casual encounter
In Any Other Night Two strangers meet on an evening that will radically change their lives. He, Sam, works as a taxi driver and struggles with his inner uncertainties. She, Maggie, has just been dumped and has everything to escape her earlier life. The casual encounter of the pair leads to a nightly odyssey through the city.
Arrived names
For the role of Sam, Ten Horn can count on the services of Marwan Kenzari, who made it in Hollywood but now and then gets out of eye -catching projects of Dutch makers. Recently the English -language drama appeared The Return (2024)in which Kenzari passes in an important supporting role. The opponent of the Aladdin star is Tatiana Maslany. She played the leading role seasons for the seasons Orphan Black (2013–2017) and shone more recently She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022).
Familiar with Hollywood
In a reaction to the start of the recordings, Ten Horn says he was gilded with the casting of the protagonists. A third actor name that is already known is that of Hannah Hoekstra. Just like Kenzari she had (and has) a career in Dutch cinema, but she was already introduced to Hollywood.
Any Other Night is expected to be released in the course of 2026.
