Inflation in France remained stable over one year in April, at 0.8 % as one Marchwhile the drop in energy prices would have been partially offset by feedback from food prices, according to preliminary data published this Wednesday by Wednesday by INSEE. In April, prices climbed 0.5 % after an increase of 0.2 % in March.
The evolution over one year is linked to a drop in energy prices (-7.9 %, after already -6.6 % in March). On the other hand, food prices rose by + 1.2 % after + 0.6 % in March. It is above all, the prices of fresh products which increased by 4 % over twelve months while that of other food products is 0.9 %.
The prices of manufactured services and products evolve at the same rate as in March, + 2.3 %and -0.2 %respectively, while the price of tobacco increases by 4.1 %, there too as in March.

INSEE does not give the details of developments over a month, but indicates that the increase of 0.5 % “would be explained by the increase in services of services, especially those of transport, and food”, and that, on the other hand, “energy prices would drop again while those of manufactured and tobacco products would be almost stable”.
The harmonized consumer price index (IPCH) which allows comparisons between countries in the euro zone, would increase by 0.8 % in April, according to the National Institute of Statistics, after + 0.9 % in March. It would increase by 0.6 % over the month after + 0.2 % in March.
