John Lithgow is surprised about the fuss about the newly expected Harry Potter series. The conclave actor himself confirmed at the end of February that he would catch Dumbledore in the skin of ‘supreme wizard’, but since then had the wind for various reasons.
Conservative
One of the producers of the grand -set series is JK Rowling, and that has been under fire online for a considerable time because of its persistent conservative opinion about trans -rights. Recently, Rowling announced that he would support a statement by the British Supreme Court, with which the concept of ‘woman’ was legally defined as only referring to persons born organic as a woman.
Boycot call
The Last of US actor Pedro Pascal labeled the pronunciation as “disgusting” and spoke out on social media against the position of Rowling. He called on fans to boycott the new series.

LithGow has in The Times indicated that he was dumbfounded by the fuss. The actor has not only taken note of online hate reactions, he was also personally approached by several people about Rowling’s comments. For example, a friend of his message sent him an article with the title “An open letter to John Lithgow: please leave ‘Harry Potter’ ignoring”. He also received a delivered message from the friend of a trans child before taking the role.
Last major role?
When asked if he had expected the reactions, the new interpreter of Professor Dumbledore (Dumbledore, ed.) In the negative:
It was a big decision, because it will probably be the last major role that I play. So I was mainly concerned with my own mortality (…) but with regard to this point, why is this such a big objection? I am curious how JK Rowling takes the criticism himself. I certainly want to talk to her again
Criticism of two fronts
Lithgow indicates that he has been more receptive to the criticism that as an American he is going to play a character that has been performed by British for so far. So a critical of two fronts, but the actor states that he is not discouraged by the negative messages. The recordings of the new Harry Potter-Serie start this summer.
