Thomasin McKenzie goes on the horror tour. The New Zealand actress, whom we mainly know from her roles in Jojo Rabbit (2019) in Last Night in Soho (2021)is stricted as one of the stars of a brand new genrilogy. The first part will be started next month at the buyer market of the Cannes Film Festival.

The 24-year-old McKenzie experienced her breakthrough in 2018, when she played with Ben Foster in the modest drama Leave No Trace. The film received many positive reactions from critics, and did not hurt McKenzie: in the following years she played in various larger (Hollywood) titles, including so Jojo Rabbitthe most recent film by Edgar Wright and Horrorthriller Old (2021).

Rule of three
Now McKenzie is tied for The Rule of Threethe first of a total of three related horror films. The story is based on the book of the same name by Sam Ripley and is about a mysterious phenomenon that makes victims in the same family every three years. “Be wary, be on your guard, because the rule of three comes to get you,” reads the logline of the first film. “Are Amy and her family being plagued by a deadly curse?”

The role of Amy will not be played by McKenzie, but by co-hoofed role player Katie Douglas (Clown in a Cornfield). McKenzie plays her girlfriend, who tries to help Amy to reveal the curse and to deal with it. James Roday Rodriguez is affiliated with the project as a director.

Early stage
As you should secretly expect from a film with ‘three’ in the title, it is intended that after The Rule of Three Two more related parts appear. Because the development is still at an early stage, further details about the release (s) are not yet known.
