Since the death of the Pope, there has been a lot of attention for the film again Conclave (2024). Understandable of course (the new conclave starts in a week), but the director of the religious thriller is actually already working on a new project. None other than Brad Pitt will play the leading role in his next film.
Mysterious disappearance
Deadline knows that Edward Berger will get started with The Ridersa novel by Tim Winton who was eligible for the Booker Prize in 1995. The story is about a man who returns to his wife and daughter in Ireland after a tour through Europe. The couple buys an old farm, where father Fred starts the renovation. In the meantime, his wife travels to Australia to sell a number of properties. Fred’s world is turned upside down if he wants to pick up his wife and daughter after the trip, and only finds his daughter.
A24 on board
The role of father Fred Scully will be played by Brad Pitt, who will be shown again in a large cinema film next summer. The protagonist will also produce the film, but the most important collected party is A24. The valued production house, which this year comes with the new film from Ari Aster, has taught several other interested parties in a bidding battle for rights.
Short run -up
The rights to The Riders In the mold of a film scenario in Gieten in the hands of David Kajganich, a decade ago. The ball started rolling when the director of Conclave For an earlier horror series with Kajganich collaborated and made his interest known. The production company of Ridley Scott (Gladiator II) also cooperated in that series, and now has a supporting role in making The Riders.

Details about the release of Bergers new film and the additional casting are not yet known.
