Domestic data center is the key to developing AI in Indonesia

According to a survey of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), the number of internet users in Indonesia in 2024 reached 221.56 million people, equivalent to 79.5% of the total population.

This increase in internet users triggers increasingly greater data needs, especially for digital businesses. They need qualified data storage devices, such as data centers. The location of the data center is a crucial factor for the company.

Data center services located in the country provide significant benefits for companies operating in Indonesia, especially in reducing latency. This was revealed by Luca Cada Cora, CEO of an artificial intelligence startup (AI).

“AI solutions with domestic data centers are very important considering that most AI providers are closed companies,” Luca said through his statement, Wednesday (2/19/2025).

He added, the data inputted could potentially be used for their AI training, either with or without user approval.

“With the domestic data center, B2B customers will be more confident because data and privacy are more maintained, especially for large industries such as banking, oil and gas, and law firms,” ​​Luca explained.
