The timely indicator of economic activity (IOAE) provides that the global indicator of economic activity (IGAE) had an increase, after a decrease in the estimated economy of 0.3% In December last year, achieving a monthly advance of 0.1% in January of this year.

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI)the Mexican economy managed to increase in the first month of 2025after the recoil registered at the end of last year.

This action managed to grow due to the dynamism of its two main components. The industry would have registered a planned monthly increase of 0.1% in January, after the already observed fall of 1.4% in December 2024.

On the other hand, The services sector would have registered a 0.1% increase in the first month of the year, after an expected increase of 0.2% in the previous immediate period.

In the same way, the IOAE projected by January 2025 an annual increase of 1.8% of the country’s economic activity, based on seasonality adjusted figures. A 1.7% setback in industrial activities is estimated, while the services sector would have increased 2.8% in the reference period.

The IOAE allows you to register timely estimates on the evolution of economic activity. Similarly, while the IGAE and its components are released approximately eight weeks after the end of the reference month, the IOAE releases its estimates just three weeks after the end of the month. With this, it advances five weeks to the publication of the official data, the INEGI mentioned.
