Previously, Minister of Communication and Digital (MENKOMDIGI) Meutya Hafid stressed Indonesia’s commitment in building an inclusive and balanced artificial intelligence (AI) governance.
In the Ministerial Meeting of GPAI Members and Interesting Countries which are part of the AI Action Summit, which was held in Paris, Meutya highlighted Indonesia’s strategic role in bridging the interests of developing countries and developed countries in Global AI policies.
According to him, Indonesia believes that AI governance must be based on the principles of justice, inclusiveness, and security.
“Indonesia believes that the global AI policy must reflect the interests of all countries, not only developed countries, but also pay attention to the reality of developing countries such as Indonesia,” Meutya Hafid said in his remarks at the Ministry of Europe and French Affairs, quoted from his official statement on Tuesday (11 /2/2025).
The meeting was attended by French President Emmamuale Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, French Digital Minister Clara Chappaz, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Uri, and Communication and Digital Ministers from OECD member countries and his partner.
In this forum, Indonesia stressed the importance of an inclusive approach in Global AI governance, which is in line with the main theme of the meeting, namely GPAI’s role in building inclusive global governance of AI.
