François Bayrou can blow, until the next obstacle: the motions of censorship deposited or announced this week and next week. The Prime Minister should once again use 49.3. Update on the upcoming stages for the government which comes out of a long marathon of the examination of state and social security budgets.
Censorship motions
The Prime Minister’s decision to engage twice on Monday the responsibility of the government, via article 49.3 of the Constitution, led to the deposit by rebellious France (LFI) of two motions of censorship, which will be examined on Wednesday at the Assembly From 3.30 p.m.
They have little chance of succeeding since the socialists have announced that they would not support them, and the National Rally (RN) should confirm on Wednesday that it will not vote them either.
New 49.3
Then will be called to the agenda the second part of the PLFSS, which should also trigger the use of a 49.3, causing the announced deposit of a third motion of censorship. The latter should be examined at the end of the week, or even at the start of next week.
François Bayrou should resort to 49.3 one last time, on the “expenses” part and the entire security budget, perhaps on Friday. The rebellious should respond with a fourth censorship motion, examined at the start or midst of next week.
If all these motions are rejected, the PLFSS will in turn be considered adopted by the Assembly. His examination is planned in the upper chamber on February 17 and 18.
The round of the socialists
The socialists have also announced that they will file a motion of “spontaneous” censorship on the basis of article 49.2 of the Constitution, in reaction in particular to François Bayrou’s words on the migratory “feeling of submersion”.
Our file on the Bayrou government
It will be filed “after the budgetary procedure”, according to the deputy PS Arthur Delaporte, that is a priori at the end of next week. The vote can then only take place 48 hours at the earliest after deposit.
