Omar García Harfuch: Semar and FGR secure methamphetamine laboratories in Tlaxcala

The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuchannounced that, in a joint operation led by the Secretary of the Navy and in collaboration with the Security Cabinet, Two laboratories dedicated to the production of methamphetamines were seized and 14 people linked to illicit activities were arrested.

This operation, which was part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal cells in Puebla and Tlaxcala, had the participation of various institutions, such as the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN) and the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC).

The operation consisted of three simultaneous interventions in which 14 people were arrested and not only the laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs, but also weapons, illicit substances and chemical precursors were seized. The interventions were based on sufficient evidence obtained during previous investigations, which allowed a control judge to issue search warrants to intervene in the homes of both entities.

The objective of the interventions was to dismantle a criminal cell related to the Sinaloa Cartel, in its faction known as “Mayito Flaco.” Federal authorities assure that the detainees were informed of their constitutional rights and that the seized assets were handed over to the Public Ministry to continue with the investigations.

The Security Cabinet emphasized that, according to the law, the innocence of detainees is presumed until a final sentence is handed down by a judge, in accordance with the procedures established in the National Code of Criminal Procedures.
