The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has just imposed a fine of IDR 202.5 billion on Google LCC (Google).
This decision is related to alleged violations of Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopoly Practices and Unfair Business Competition by Google.
In reading the decision at the KPPU Office, Chairman of the Commission Council, Hilman Pujana, revealed that Google violated Article 17 of Law Number 5 of 1999 regarding causing monopolistic practices and/or unfair business competition.
The second article violated was article 25 paragraph 1 letter b of Law Number 5 of 1999, relating to the element of dominant position and preventing consumers from obtaining competitive goods or services, both in terms of price and quality.
The KPPU Assembly asked the company to stop its obligation to use the Google Play Billing System in the Google Play Store.
“Sentence the reported party to pay a fine of two hundred two billion five hundred million rupiah (Rp. 202.5 billion),” said Hilman.
