It’s been quite a while since Parasite director Bong Joon-Ho’s new film was announced. Mickey 17 (2024) promised to be a science fiction drama of blockbuster proportions, starring none other than Robert Pattinson. The film was actually supposed to be shown about a year ago, but was postponed. The unveiling of a brand new trailer underlines that the release is finally really near.
Deadly run
Pattinson’s character plays a worker on a colonized ice planet, where every once in a while a remarkable changing of the guard takes place. Every time ‘disposable employee’ Mickey’s duties are over, the expedition leadership sends a clone to replace him. That goes well for a while, until Mickey realizes what a difficult position he has been put into…

IMAX screens
The newly released trailer of Mickey 17 is a welcome update in the run-up to the long-awaited cinema release, which was planned for the spring of 2024 when the film was announced, but will only actually take place a year later. The postponement had to do with the release strategy: the sci-fi buster must be shown in IMAX, among other things, and only in the currently chosen release period would all desired screens be available.
Mickey 17 can be seen from March 6. The international premiere is next month at the Berlin Film Festival.
