As a result of the first working group established by the Government of the State of Jalisco with the industry and producers, to address the current situation of the agave, It was agreed to prioritize the purchase of agave from small traditional agave farmers, as confirmed by the president of the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT), Roberto Ciprés Cruces.
“With this, more than 5 thousand traditional agave farmers will be able to benefit, in this first stage. With this certification, tequila makers, agave producers and the regulatory body continue to carry out actions that aim to safeguard the Tequila Denomination of Origin, generating a sustainable agroindustry in the present and in the future,” said Ciprés Cruces.
This purchase will be made under the Social Responsible Agave (ARS) certification, achieving direct marketing agreements between agave producers and tequila companies, without intermediaries.

The Representation of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development participates in these working groups.the Jalisco Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry, the Tequila Regulatory Council and agave organizations.
