Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The government is currently drafting a Presidential Regulation as implementing regulations for Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (UU PDP).
According to Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Nezar Patria, the drafting of this Presidential Decree was carried out carefully to be able to answer the challenges of cyber security and new technology.
Nezar said that several articles in this Presidential Decree were discussed every day to ensure proper harmonization. The number is estimated to be around 216 articles.
“And, in the Presidential Decree there are several important additions, especially those covering: cyber security (cyber security) and also emerging technologies (new technology),” he said in a press release received, Friday (18/1/2025).
Nezar further said that this Presidential Decree would be an important basis for strengthening personal data protection, especially in rapidly developing sectors such as fintech.
“The Presidential Decree is currently being discussed at the Ministry of Law. We hope that at least in the 4th week of February the Presidential Decree will have been harmonized,” he continued.
The Ministry of Communications and Technology also continues to provide education and increase public awareness through collaboration with other government institutions, private companies, startups, academics and the community.
This effort aims to combine resources, expertise and extensive networks, to accelerate the implementation of PDP in various sectors.
“Our Ministry, Komdigi, is responsible for compiling more detailed and technical implementing regulations for the PDP law. These regulations will provide clear guidance for organizations, business actors and the public in implementing the principles that have been regulated,” he explained.
