David Lynch, the well-known director of top films and series such as Blue Velvet (1986), Mulholland Dr. (2001), The Elephant Man (1980) in Twin Peaks (1990–2017)has passed away. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker is 78 years old.
Sad news
Lynch’s family just announced the sad news on social media. “It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and artist, David Lynch,” they wrote. “We’d like to have some privacy now. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eyes on the donut and not the hole.'”

Wildfires in Los Angeles
Lynch had emphysema, a lung disease that falls under COPD. According to sources from Deadline the director was forced to leave his home last week due to the fires in Los Angeles, and that he subsequently deteriorated.
Last year, Lynch already said in an interview with Sight & Sound know that he no longer wanted to leave the house due to the fear of getting corona and his emphysema diagnosis. Yet he said at the time that he would “never retire”. He was open to directing from home, remotely.
