Movie stars also cannot escape the traffic rules, and for Timothée Chalamet an impromptu trip through London this week has taken an unpleasant turn. The actor decided to take his bike to the London premiere of his new film A Complete Unknown (2024)and was promptly given a traffic fine as a result. The reason? Parking the loan bicycle was subject to strict rules…
Protest generation
In A Complete Unknown Chalamet plays the famous folk singer Bob Dylan, who made his mark on the West Village music scene in the early 1960s and has now become an indispensable part of the canon. Dylan was not a typical pop star at first (The Beatles and Dylan emerged around the same period, ed.), but with his raw voice, his iconic guitar and his protest songs, the idiosyncratic singer took his place where others failed to do so.
Traffic problems
The film was released in the United States in December and was now ready for its first screening in England. Chalamet had initially just planned to go to the screening location by car, but because of traffic problems, the Dune star took the bike. It became a so-called lime bike, which you can unlock at various points in the city and then park elsewhere.
Chalamet arrived at his destination smoothly, but in the French talk show Daily he revealed afterwards that the ride had earned him a fine of about 65 pounds (+-77 euros). “It was ecological to take the bike!”, said the actor. “But this is painful, because it is actually a disguised advertisement for them (the company, ed.).”
In the Netherlands A Complete Unknown from February 20 to see. The film will also screen at the IFFR, which starts in two weeks.
