The Evaluation Committee of the Legislative Branch reported that, of the 10,887 candidates registered to compete for positions in the Judicial Branch of the Federation, only a little more than five thousand passed the first purge. These people are being interviewed during the last two weeks of January.
Ana Patricia Briseño, current president of the committee, explained in a message to the media that only those who met the “suitability” criteria established by the CEPL advanced. “This process seeks to guarantee that the people selected for senior judicial positions comply with fundamental principles such as ethical competence and commitment to justice,” he assured. He added that this effort contributes to strengthening the autonomy and reliability of the Judiciary.
The final insaculation, which will be carried out through a raffle on February 1 and 4, will define the list of candidates. This process must guarantee the principle of gender parity.
Briseño also explained that in recent sessions More men than women have appeared: of the 44 appearances made on Tuesday, 38 corresponded to men and only six to women; while this Wednesday, 33 men and 11 women were summoned.
