Five days after his burial in La Trinité-sur-mer, Jean-Marie Le Pen will be at the center of a popular tribute in the Val de Grace church in Paris, this Thursday at 11 a.m. The ceremony, organized by the family and the National Rally, will be open to all. Well, almost everyone.
According to several sources, personalities considered “too radical” will not be welcome and will be prohibited from entering the religious building. This would be the case of the far-right essayist Alain Soral, formerly close to the founder of the National Front. But also from Dieudonné.
“Thank you to Madam Judge”
The comedian nevertheless announced his presence at the ceremony. “I will finally be present at the public funeral of Jean-Marie Le Pen (…), he relishes. Thank you to Madam Judge.” He has been serving a detention sentence under an electronic bracelet since May 15, 2024 and until August 31, 2026. As such, he is only authorized to leave his home in Chartres (an hour from Paris) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays (and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends). Too little time to attend the ceremony.
His request to attend was initially refused by the courts on the grounds that the two men were not related. But “by electronic message dated January 14, 2025, Mr. M’Bala M’Bala transmitted three press articles stating that Mr. Jean-Marie Le Pen is the godfather of his daughter feather”, underlines the judge of the application of sentences in a letter made public by Dieudonné. “This element justifies granting his request.”
The comedian should therefore be present for the ceremony. But, in all likelihood, he would have to be content to stay in front of the church…
