Faced with a possible mass deportation from the United States to Mexico across the Tijuana border, the town’s Town Council unanimously approved the declaration of emergency as a preventive measure.
According to the explanation of Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Municipal President, the declaration has the purpose of providing dignified treatment in terms of human rights and guarantee of a good return to people who could arrive in Tijuana.
In addition, coordination work is maintained with the Federal Government to carry out preventive actions, in the part that corresponds to the State and Municipality.
During the extraordinary session of the Cabildo, the Secretary of the Municipal Government, Arnulfo Guerrero León, and the agencies determined to do so, were empowered to sign the legal instruments, acquisitions, and contracting necessary to address any atypical situation that may arise.
That is, leasing of movable and immovable property, contracting of public services, internet, legal services, administrative, technology, consulting services, personnel, equipment, supplies, various materials, work adaptations, works on owned or leased facilities.
As well as any other concept within the budget items that are necessary to fulfill the purpose of this agreement, coordinating actions with state and federal authorities to respond to the emergency and manage the obtaining of existing federal funds for this item.
Likewise, the Municipal Treasury was authorized and instructed to quickly and expeditiously carry out the necessary budgetary and programmatic movements, and, where appropriate, the creation of budget items and/or programs for the Municipal Government Secretariat, without affecting the operation. of the agencies and Paramunicipal Entities.
In the presentation of the point of agreement, it was established that it is a priority of the Municipal Government to attend to the needs of migrants and therefore, prevent a contingency from occurring, through logistical, material and regulatory preparation that provides a solution to the need that could appear.
