Previously, Google formed a new team to build AI models that could simulate the physical world.
The new team is led by Tim Brooks, he was one of the leads on OpenAI’s video generator project Sora, which later moved to Google’s AI research lab DeepMind.
Quoting Tech CrunchThursday (9/1/2025), Brooks announced this in a post on X aka Twitter. Later this team will become part of Google DeepMind.
Advertisement “DeepMind has ambitious plans to build massive generative models that simulate the world. I’m recruiting a new team with this mission in mind,” Brooks said in his X post.
According to the job posting Brooks linked to in his post, the new modeling team will collaborate and build work alongside Google’s Gemini, Veo, and Genie teams. They will scale those AI models to the highest levels of computing.
For your information, Gemini is Google’s flagship AI model series to help with tasks such as analyzing images and generating text. Veo is Google’s video creation model.
