Caution: Warning about loan fraud
In recent months, publications have circulated on social networks offering loans supposedly backed by the Ministry of Welfare, with amounts of up to 30 thousand pesos and without carrying out verifications in the credit bureau. These offers usually stand out for their apparent payment facilities, which makes them attractive to many people.
However, FINABIEN issued a statement at the end of last year warning the population about these fraudulent practices. According to the agency, scams are committed mainly through mobile applications that present themselves as part of the institution, which is false. In addition, they clarify that FINABIEN never requests payments in banks or convenience stores.
“It is reported that the organization does not have external customer service personnel to provide loans or collect debts, which is why it must ignore fraudulent publications via social networks, emails and WhatsApp messages,” says the official statement.

How to identify legitimate communications from FINABIEN
FINABIEN asked the population to be attentive to recognize official emails, which always have the ending @finabien.gob.mx. They also urge distrust of emails with domains such as “.com” or “.com.mx”, as well as pages on social networks that try to imitate the visual identity of FINABIEN and its official card.
Finally, they recommend ignoring any communication or request for personal data that does not come from official channels, and reporting any suspicious activity related to the institution.
