Saturday, late in the morning, a 44-year-old woman was attacked while she was jogging in Vergeze, near Nîmes, in the Gard. According to the public prosecutor, she received several stab wounds.
The attack took place on Saturday, at 11 a.m., “in a health park” in this town of 8,000 inhabitants in the south of the Gard department. The victim is a forty-year-old, “mother of the family” specifies Cécile Gensac, adding that the vital prognosis of this woman is today “stabilized” after having been “involved for a while”.
“Hit from behind”
Little is still known about the circumstances of the attack. The forty-year-old was “hit from behind” several times with a “bladed weapon”. The magistrate assures that at this stage “the causes of the act are undetermined”.
The perpetrator, probably a man, was able to flee after his attack. He has not been identified, recognizes the prosecutor. A blatant investigation “on the charge of attempted homicide” was opened and the investigations were entrusted to the research brigade of the Nîmes gendarmerie. The prosecution also calls on possible witnesses to the attack to contact investigators.
