The Casa por Casa Salud program, launched by the Government of Mexico, seeks to serve more than 13 million peopledistributed in 12 million homes throughout the country, among older adults and people with disabilities.
Through home consultations, the program will guarantee that beneficiaries, regardless of whether they are affiliated with the IMSS, ISSSTE or any other social security system, receive comprehensive care..
When does the House to House Health program begin?
The goal of the program is to ensure that people, regardless of their medical coverage, receive the care they require, especially those in more vulnerable situations; hence Starting in February 2025, a team of approximately 21,500 healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, will begin home visits.
These professionals will be in charge of keeping an updated control of each patient’s clinical history and providing a record where both the prescribed treatments and the medical visits carried out will be recorded.
Medical staff will focus on providing primary care, checking vital signs, performing basic dressings and even carrying out some diagnostic studies.. Besides, They will have the ability to prescribe medications that have already been previously recommended to patients. In cases where necessary, health workers will be in charge of coordinating care at higher levels, facilitating access to more specialized consultations.
The program will have a telephone support center available 24 hours a day, seven days a weekwhich will provide support to the health personnel who will be in charge of home visits and consultations.
How was the registration?
The registration process for the program, which was carried out since October 2024, was carried out through a census that was carried out by trained personnel, who visited each home of the beneficiaries of the aforementioned pensions.
During these visits, detailed surveys were conducted that included approximately 80 questions about various aspects of people’s health and well-being, in order to obtain a complete diagnosis.
The questionnaires addressed key topics such as medical history, immunizations, previous illnesses, current treatments and medications, as well as conditions such as disability, emotional health and physical activity. Housing, family relationships, educational level and income were also investigated, among other relevant factors.
